Canadians gear up for 2015 Delta Lloyd Regatta

The Delta Lloyd Regatta is set to begin May 26th with five days of racing coming to a close on the 30th of May. Sailors racing in Medemblik will be competing for ISAF world rankings and qualification for the next ISAF World Cup regatta in Weymouth early this June. The 2015 Delta Lloyd organizing committee will be pleased with the numbers with over 700 boats registered from over 70 different nations. This top-notch event is always a favorite bringing together the best sailors from around Europe and the world.
Canada will be represented in full force in both the Olympic and Paralympic fleets in Medemblik, with Canadian Sailing Team members competing in the Laser Standard, Laser Radial, RS:X, 470 Men and SKUD 18 fleets.
Canadian Laser team sailors, Robert Davis, Lee Parkhill, Tom Ramshaw, Evert McLaughlin and Matthew Ryder will all be hitting the water next Tuesday to compete in the hefty 168 boat Laser fleet.
CST Radial sailors including Pan Am sailor Brenda Bowskill, Violet Stafford and Sarah Douglas have been training hard in Toronto and are ready to tackle their first European event this season.
In the RS:X men’s fleet, CST veteran Zachary Plavsic will be competing alongside teammates Jean-Sebastien Fugere and Gabrielle Verrier- Paquette.
Nikola Girke will also be seen this week on the board in preparation for 2015 Pan Am Games.
CST brothers Jake and Graeme Saunders will continue their European stint racing in the 470 Men fleet.
In the SKUD 18, John McRoberts and Jackie Gay will be sailing hot off their second place podium finish in Lake Garda!
