The ISAF World Cup Weymouth and Portland will take place between June 8th – 14th with four days of fleet racing and a final day medal race. This is an exciting event, as sailors will be returning to the waters of the 2012 London Olympic Games with prize money and spots at the World Cup Abu Dhabi final up for grabs!
Similar to the ISAF World Cup Hyeres, the world’s top 30 ranked sailors have been invited to this event with the remaining 10 sailors securing their spots at the Delta Lloyd Regatta in Medemblik, the Netherlands.
2012 Olympians and Nacra 17 team Luke Ramsay and Nikola Girke will be back on the familiar Weymouth waters for the first time next week. Luke competed in the 470 class while Nikola enjoyed her second Olympic experience in 10th on the RSX windsurfer. The speedy team have been focused and performed well at the last ISAF World Cup, finishing in the top 10!
49er FX team Erin Rafuse and Danielle Boyd are also in the mix with their recent WC result of 16th in Hyères, the speedy duo will look to better that score this week in Weymouth.
Radial sailors, Isabella Bertold and Brenda Bowskill are competing against the world’s best in the Radial fleet. Bertold, currently ranked fifth in the World, will look to improve upon her last World Cup result in Hyères of 14th.
The ISAF World Cup Weymouth and Portland is the second last ISAF World Cup event before the final. Every sailor has been preparing for this and will be bringing their very best sailing to their race course!
This will be a world-class event with free entrance to the Weymouth and Portland National Sailing Academy for spectators and live commentary during the medal races on June 14th.
