Interest in the Louis Vuitton America’s Cup World Series was huge throughout New York, with hundred of thousands of spectators watching the weekend’s racing and capturing the city’s media with Emirates Team New Zealand front and centre.
The winning team of the regatta was invited to ring the closing bell of the Nasdaq stock exchange on behalf of the America’s Cup organisation.
“It was good for the sponsors really, and also not a bad thing for our entire country and it’s profile in New York and America.” said CEO Grant Dalton after ringing the closing bell with grinders Guy Endean and Sam Bell as well as boat builder Adrian White.
“There were over 175,000 people directly involved watching the event over the weekend of racing which was huge and finishing off the week here at the Nasdaq and also on the cover of both the Wall Street Journal and the New York Times is just massive for the team and its sponsors.”
Emirates Team New Zealand now return to New Zealand to continue development work before returning to America in three weeks to begin preparing for the next Louis Vuitton America’s Cup event in Chicago.
