A-Class Pre-Worlds and Nationals- Almost a countback to Ashby

by Heather Forbes on 9 Feb 2014
Peter Burling (24) and Jacek Noetzel (POL) - NZ Nationals and Pre-Worlds, A-Class Takapuna 2014 Georgia Schofield

After two days of cancelled racing, and a long day out on the water, the NZ National and Pre-Worlds series was completed yesterday.

2012 London Olympic silver medalist and 2013 World and European Champion in the Olympic 49er skiff, Peter Burling is the 2014 National A Class Champion. The result was handed to him in Race 2 after Glenn Ashby, rounded the gate for a third lap in a two lap race!

Consequently, Ashby’s result was fifth, otherwise Ashby would have won on count-back.

Ray Davies came second and Murray Philpott third.

Master: Andrew Landenberger (AUS)

Grand Master: Peter Melvin ( USA)

Great Grand Master: Simon McKeon (AUS)
