The World Championships of the Tornado Sailing Class, a former Olympic class, will be held by the LindauerSegler-Club LSC as organizer from the 10th until the 17th of June 2016 on the Lake of Constance.

32 teams, including some oft the worlds best sailors from over 11 nations have already signed in, one month before the event starts.

The sailing area, in front of the Isle of Lindau has already proven itself to be suitable during the Tornado German Open in 2010, and has been kept in good memory by all sailors ever since. The breath taking scenery of the Swiss-Austrians in the South and medieval island silhouette of Lindaunorth of the racing course have left a deep impression on all competitors.

This time however the starting field will be international: sailors from New Zealand, Australia, Greece, United Kingdom, from Spain to France to Poland all absolute experts in their field some of them even former Olympic athletes.

The Tornado class is without any doubt one the most spectacular boat classes of the sailing world, whether you are only observing or actually sailing in the regatta, a speed- and adrenalin-rush is almost guaranteed.

The Tornado is a multihull-construction sailed by a crew of two people, measuring 6.1 meter in length overall, and a sail area of 23,80 m2 close hauled. The Tornado was an Olympic Class-Boat from 1976 until 2008.

Iordanis Paschalidis, Konstantinos TrigonisSail#GRE 7:
The winners of he open class World Championship 2015, from Greece, will be starting as well.
The five time consecutive world champions, having participated already several times in the Olympic games, are undoubtedly serious title contenders for 2016 championships.
