Canadian Sailing Team set to sail - 2015 Pan American Games Sail Canada / Voile Canada http://www.sailing.ca/
The 2015 Pan American Games are officially open! After weeks of mounting excitement, Canadian sailors marched among the 700+ Canadian athletes in last night's extravagant Opening Ceremonies featuring Cirque de Soleil!

Team Leader, Ken Dool has guided the team through the final phases of preparation saying, 'The team has a mix of veteran performers and first time Major Games competitors, all having spent considerable time preparing for a home Games. The teams' prospects look strong, and like all major events will require execution on the process. We are looking to the veteran leaders to get us off to a strong start and ride the wave through the duration of the Games.' The Canadian sailors and their respective classes are as follows:

Men's RS:X (windsurfer) - Zachary Plavsic
Men's Laser (one person dinghy) - Lee Parkhill
Women's RS:X (windsurfer) - Nikola Girke
Women's Laser Radial (one person dinghy) - Brenda Bowskill
Women's 49er FX (skiff) - Erin Rafuse and Danielle Boyd
Open Sunfish (one person dinghy) - Luke Ramsay
Open Snipe (two person dinghy) - Evert McLaughlin and Alexandra Damley Strnad
Open Hobie 16 (two person catamaran) - Dan Borg and Liana Giovando
Open J24 (four person keelboat) - Terry McLaughlin, David Jarvis, David Ogden, and Sandy Andrews
Mixed Lightning (three person dinghy) - Jamie Allan, Jay Deakin, and Chantal Leger

The sailing events will take place from July 12th to 19th. Each class includes a series of twelve preliminary races, with the exception of the RSX and the 49erFX, with sixteen total. Races will take place each day from July 12th-17th, with an 11:30am start. To view the full schedule, click here. The last two days of competition, the 18th and 19th, are Medal Races. The top 50% of competitors in the preliminary series will advance to the Medal Races.

All Medal Races will take place in the inner harbor of the venue, and can be viewed free of charge from Sugar Beach - one of Toronto's most popular urban beaches, located at 11 Dockside Drive. Plus, Sugar Beach is also the destination for all sailing medal ceremonies. Stay connected to all of the action by following @SailCanada @PanSail, @TeamCanada, and on Twitter.
