2015 Malibu WWA Rider Experience schedule announced

by World Wakeboard Association on 28 Mar 2015
2015 Malibu WWA Rider Experience World Wakeboard Association
The World Wakeboard Association is on the cusp of another breakthrough season, which will include another successful season of the Malibu WWA Rider Experience. The Malibu WWA Rider Experience is the leader in both amateur competition and giving riders deeper education on how the sport works.

Five regional events across North America will draw the top riders in all WWA amateur divisions including the return of the Jr. Pro Men’s series. In addition to the East, West, Central, and South regions of the U.S., the WWA has added a Rider Experience in Canada for the first time. The 2015 Malibu WWA Rider Experience serves as a one-stop shop for all wake sports as it includes the WWA Regional Championships, Judge’s Experience, WWA Pro Card Qualifier, Surf Gate Sunday and Freeride Friday with pro instruction by Malibu’s Pro Team.

“The Malibu Rider Experience has been a pet project that over the course of two years has grown beyond our expectations,” stated WWA President Shannon Starling. “With the addition of the Regional Championships, the Jr. Pro division series, and now the regional qualifiers for the WWA Wakeboard National Championships, the WWA Rider Experience events have added a new level of legitimacy to the amateur side of our sport.”

The Jr. Pro Men’s division will highlight each WWA Regional Championship with a total of $15,000 in prize money and travel scholarships to the WWA National Championships in Miami and/or the WWA World Championships in Portugal. For the first time in our sport, all riders must compete in the WWA Regional Championships in order to be seeded for the WWA National Championships in August.

Each Rider Experience event is a family-friendly weekend that begins with Freeride Friday. Freeride Friday is open to riders of all skill levels to receive instruction from some of Malibu’s Pro riders and allows everyone to get practice in before the competition. The Judge’s Experience is great for parents and riders of all divisions and ages to understand what the WWA Officials are looking for from the riders on the water, and finally Surf Gate Sunday gives riders a chance to surf behind Malibu’s Wakesetter series boats with Surf Gate for a fun, relaxed Sunday afternoon on the water with new and old friends.

“We love bringing events that have something for riders and families at every skill level during each Malibu Rider Experience weekend,” said Malibu CEO Jack Springer. “Every weekend is a chance for amateur riders to interact with and learn from Malibu’s Pro riders, educate themselves on all aspects of wake sports and compete behind one of Malibu’s premium Wakesetter series boats. Over the course of each weekend, the whole family, including non-competitors, can enjoy the water and see the unparalleled versatility of a Malibu boat.”

Malibu Boats dealers in each region will host each WWA Rider Experience beginning in Arizona and continuing across North America.
