Cafu aponta semelhanças entre a Volvo Ocean Race e o futebol

2014 - 15 Volvo Ocean Race - Um dos maiores jogadores da história do futebol brasileiro está envolvido com a Volvo Ocean Race. Cafu, que ficou eternizado levantando a taça do penta na Copa do Mundo de 2002, participou da regata In-port Race a bordo do Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing - segundo colocado na prova - e vivenciou todo o clima da parada latino-americana da Volta ao Mundo.

O ex-jogador, que sempre foi um líder em campo, achou semelhanças entre a vela e o futebol. 'O objetivo dos dois capitães é levar as equipes às vitórias. É preciso fazer com que o grupo esteja unido e focado na conquista. O líder no esporte precisa sempre dar palpite, dar duras e conselhos para os atletas', disse Cafu, que fez embaixadinhas com Ian Walker, comandante do Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing, distribuiu autógrafos e tirou fotos com velejadores - que são fãs dele até hoje - e com o público.

'Estou surpreso com o evento como um todo. Muito bem organizado. Podemos dizer que é praticamente uma Copa do Mundo em Santa Catarina. Espero que a população local aproveite a oportunidade', concluiu Cafu.

O camisa 2 é o único jogador do planeta a ter disputado três finais de Copas de maneira seguida. Ganhou duas em 1994 e 2002 e perdeu a de 1998. O capitão do penta não é o único craque do futebol que participa da Volvo Ocean Race em Itajaí. Neste domingo (19), Márcio Santos, zagueiro tetracampeão com a seleção de Carlos Alberto Parreira, será o legjumper do Dongfeng Race Team, barco chinês na Volta ao Mundo. O ex-jogador irá pular da embarcação após a largada, uma tradição da regata.
