Benromach National 18ft Championships

by Event media on 8 Aug 2008
The conditions were testing for the sailors Wednesday for races 6 and 7 of the Benromach National 18ft Championships, being held in Findhorn this week.

Constant rain and wind speeds of 10 knots gusting 23 ENE saw six boats retiring leaving the hardier to fight it out. The competition is still open with four boats still in contention for the top spots.

The class rallied together to repair the damage done to Howlin Gael in Mondays mast snapping episode. She was back on the water today and got a very respectable 16th position for their efforts.

The final placing for race 6 is still unconfirmed until the outcome of the ongoing protest between Irish boats 350 Peter O Donovan and 358 Colin Barry after an altercation at the windward mark.
