Bavarias at Auckland International Boat Show

The 2007 Auckland Boat Show was heralded as one of the best as far as International Marine Brokers are concerned. We welcomed a considerable number of visitors to the stand, which was larger than ever.

Managing our stand very differently from previous years, we actually registered everyone as they entered, engaged them in friendly conversation and were able to assess their level of interest in the Bavaria range. This enabled us to extend them the best possible personal service.

On display were five boats from the popular Cruiser Range – B33, B37, B39, B42 and B46, together with the first Vision 44.

The Vision 44 Claymoore, owned by Neil Stanley, made its first public appearance and attracted a considerable amount of attention. She is the middle model in the Vision Range which includes a V40 and a V50. They are luxury performance cruisers - very high volume down below and competitive on the water.

Neil bought her when he upgraded from his B38, because he was looking for something bigger, faster and more comfortable than his old boat. Quintin Fowler applied the same criteria and bought Blurred Vision, also a V44, launched her in January and has been successfully racing her ever since.

It was interesting to note which models attracted the most attention and this year was definitely in favour of those at the smaller end of the market. The B33, B37 and B39 are extremely popular models as they offer spacious, comfortable living down below and distinct value for money compared to many comparable boats from other companies.

With over seventy Bavarias in New Zealand, International Marine leads the market in imported production boats. The Bavaria Family has grown over the years and you’ll see them sailing and anchored in many a bay in the Hauraki Gulf. They always hail each other across the water and will often hop in the dinghy to visit.

On 23 – 25 March the annual Bavaria Regatta takes place at Kawau Island and with 30 boats in attendance it’s building up to be an exciting weekend.
