Australian Superyacht Industry Awards announced

2012 Club Marine Australian Marine Export & Superyacht Awards Winners with the Hon Minister Elliot Parliamentary Secretary for Trade AIMEX
The Club Marine Australian Marine Export & Superyacht Industry Awards are presented annually to reward the outstanding achievements of Australian marine industry exporters and for the first time, this year the newly incorporated Superyacht Industry categories.

These awards highlight and recognise the achievements of businesses within the Superyacht sector in Australia. The 2012 Award Winners included Rivergate Marina & Shipyard and Hanseatic Marine, with Muir Engineering and Aurora Global Logistics both awarded high commendations.

Superyacht industry sectors are commanding a significant place on the world stage and AIMEX believe these companies deserve recognition for their initiative, innovation, quality and expertise and the contributions they are making to ensure the Australian Superyacht Industry is at the forefront of global markets.

The Awards were held last night at Sydney Convention & Exhibition Centre, Sydney. The newly incorporated Superyacht Categories were ‘Superyacht Industry Business of the Year (Manufacturer)’, ‘Superyacht Industry Business of the Year (Service Provider)’and 'Superyacht Industry Champion'.

Brisbane based, Rivergate Marina & Shipyard, were awarded ‘Superyacht Industry of the Year – SERVICE PROVIDER’.

Rivergate is one of Queensland's premier Superyacht Refit and project management destinations, offering a vast range of services, ranging from painters, marine electricians, composite material repair to generators, power control systems to marine carpeting and fabrics. Rivergate is a great location for Superyachts of all shapes and sizes to complete refits, maintenance work and repairs on a pristine shipyard and marina complex.

Rivergate Marina & Shipyard was voted in the Top 3 Australian Marinas by Boat International USA (now Show Boats) and the only Australian Shipyard in the Top 3 Superyacht Refit Destinations in the world by the Crew Report (Issue 32). Located on the Brisbane River, the marina is a certified Clean Marina and received 100% in the 2010 audit.

Western Australian based Hanseatic Marine, were awarded ‘Superyacht Industry of the Year – MANUFACTURER’.

Hanseatic Marine, builder of world renowned luxury superyachts, prides itself on manufacturing high speed, light weight, extremely fuel efficient vessels, all with added SOLAS passenger ship safety features. Hanseatic take a very straight forward approach to building boats, offering clients a complete service, from first design to complete construction. Established in 2003, they now have over 200 employees, 30 of these being apprentices as well as a number of small industry contractors.

Hanseatic encourage quality control and practice all aspects of the design in-house, incorporating world class styling, design materials, equipment and craftsmanship to produce their well finished products.

This has been proven in the successful design of 3 vessels – Silver in 2007, Silver Zwei in 2009 and Smeralda in 2012.



Barry Jenkins won the combined Marine Export & Superyacht Industry Champion Award. Barry is internationally known and respected within the Australian Marine & Superyacht Industry, having made a significant impact and contribution. Barry currently consults to the Sanctuary Cove International Boat Show and Yacht & Boat Korea in the area of international relations and product development. Industry involvement includes Past President of Marine Queensland, Past President of the Australian Marine Industries Federation, Chairman of Superyacht Australia and long-term Director on the AIMEX board.
