Final European World Cup of 2015 - ISAF Sailing World Cup Weymouth ISAF
Young Queenslander Jake Lilley reports on his Rio campaign
The ISAF Sailing World Cup returned to Weymouth, United Kingdom, the site of the London 2012 Olympics, for the final European World Cup of 2015.
All the players in terms of the 2016 Olympics were present and it proved to be a very tough and challenging week.
We were privileged to some beautiful sailing conditions (despite the cold!) and I managed to start and sail very well upwind, but left some room for improvement in the large waves downwind, something I will work hard on in the lead-up to the World Championships in November this year and next years Olympics.
I was able to score very consistently throughout the week and went on to finish a light wind medal race in second to move me into sixth place Overall for this round of the World Cup.
I was pleased with this result, finishing as the fifth nation, it bodes well as I continue to work hard and improve every aspect of my sailing campaign in the pursuit of Olympic Gold.
