Not so long ago, Rolex Big Boat Series spectators on the shoreline and at the St. Francis Yacht Club witnessed half a dozen or more boats the size of Kialoa III, tacking upwind towards the Golden Gate, within a few yards of the shore, missing each other by inches - and sometimes not. They weren't on foils, and they weren't super-fast, but they were absolutely amazing.
