Fri, 6 Sep 2013

Nominations for the 2013 Australian Yachting Awards close on Friday 13 September, with the event recognising outstanding achievements in the sport of sailing during the last year.

The winners will be announced at the 2013 Australian Yachting Awards taking place at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Sydney on Friday October 18 with tickets now available for the event.

The 2013 Australian Yachting Awards categories are as follows:
· Male Sailor of the Year
· Female Sailor of the Year
· Sailor of the Year with a Disability
· Youth Sailor of the Year
· Sport Promotion Award
· Lifetime Achievement Award
· Sport Professional Award
· Volunteer Award

Nominations for the awards can be made by anyone in the sailing community with nomination forms and criteria available here.

Nominations for the awards may be made in respect of achievements during the period 1 September 2012 and 10 September 2013 with clubs, class associations and the general sailing community asked to look closely at who they would like to see nominated for an award.

This year’s event will be presented in a new cocktail style format, offering the opportunity for more social interaction, with a separate seated awards ceremony. Tickets for the event are $95.00 per person and include food and beverages.

visit Awards website for further information and to secure your booking.

The 2013 CYCA SOLAS Trusts Bravery Award is also to be presented at the Australian Yachting Awards on 18 October.

Inaugurated in 2012 as a new category introduced to the list of awards presented at the annual Australian Yachting Awards, the Trustees of the CYCA SOLAS Trusts will consider nominations from individuals or crews who have demonstrated what is considered to be as an act of bravery, and who have risked personal safety, or made sacrifices beyond what is reasonably expected during an incident that occurred during the conduct of a Yachting Australia sanctioned sailing event anywhere in Australia.

The nomination form for the 2013 CYCA SOLAS Trusts Bravery Award is available here.
