Lake Ontario 300 Challenge - IRC Division shaping up + Video
Thu, 4 Jul 2013
The LO300 is ready for the IRC Division yachts for this year’s race and has increased the potential number of IRC divisions to three in order to accommodate the growth and competitiveness of this fleet. The third IRC division was added to the Susan Hood Trophy Race this year and was favorably received.
Once again there are many yachts registered and some still to register who are vying for the Sperry Top-Sider Gold Cup Trophy for the overall IRC Champion. Currently the favoured yacht is S/Y Husaria, a Farr47 from Polish-Canadian Yacht Club recently finished third in the 2013 Rolex International.
Other notable entries to this year’s LO300 IRC fleet include: Zoe II, a Beneteau First 40 from Quebec Yacht Club, who is a former division winner in this race, and Suvenant, a J/111 from Quebec Yacht Club. Apparantly, they are looking for a third yacht from the club to join them so they can compete in this year’s Team Challenge.
Jonathan Bamberger’s J/140 named Spitfire from National Yacht Club is ready to be the first yacht to win the Susan Hood Trophy Race and the Lake Ontario 300 Challenge after their excellent performance winning overall IRC in this year’s Susan Hood Trophy Race.
With some of the expected yachts still to sign up and the new wide open course, this will be an exciting division to watch via the Yellowbrick tracking system that can be accessed through the loor.ca website.
