Youth National Championships - Another great start for SYC sailors

13 of Southport Yacht Club’s finest youth sailors, travelled to the Youth National Championships, held at the Fremantle Yacht Club, Western Australia to compete in many divisions of sailing.
With all sailors achieving impressive results, two of our finest sailors, Kyle O’Connell and Tom Siganto, competed amongst 30 of Australia’s finest youth sailors to win first place in the 29er division, placing above the reigning Junior World Champions from Sydney. This follows there recent success at the Australia 9er Championships, competing to finish a remarkable third.
Congratulations to all Southport Yacht Club sailors who took part in the 2015 Youth Nationals, the results are as follows:
• 29er Division - Kyle O'Connell and Tom Siganto - first
• 420 Division - Tom Cunich - seventh
• Laser 4.7 Division Max Quan - 23rd (1st Queenslander), Tom Little - 28th, George Moreton - 34th, James Woodhouse - 37th
• Optimist Open Gold Fleet Division - Tom Wright - 42nd, Ash Swadling - 48th (5th Female), Blake Wilson - 56th (5th u/12)
• Optimist Open Silver Fleet Division - Riley Cameron - 39th
• Optimist Intermediate Gold Fleet Division - Charlie Piacun - eighth (2 race wins of 78 boats)
• Optimist Green Fleet Division - Adelaide Pullin - ninth
