A sexta etapa da Volvo Ocean Race segue com equilíbrio apontado antes da saída de Santa Catarina. Praticamente empatados, os seis barcos se alternam nas posições na subida do Atlântico pela costa brasileira e a tendência é que o cenário não se altere até a aproximação à linha do Equador.

Nas últimas 24 horas, no entanto, o Abu Dhabi conseguiu permanecer na frente, seguido pelo time feminino SCA. O barco MAPFRE, que tem o brasileiro André 'Bochecha' Fonseca era o quatro atrás do Team Alvimedica, terceiro.



'Se a etapa terminar agora, as seis equipes chegariam num espaço curto de tempo. As últimas pernas têm juntas a mesma distância que percorremos até agora na Volta ao Mundo. Será uma loteria completa - tudo pode acontecer antes da chegada em Gotemburgo', disse Matt Knighton, repórter do Abu Dhabi Ocean Racing.

Seu companheiro do MAPFRE, Fran Vignale, traduziu esse pega no Atlântico. 'Isso parece um circuito de Fórmula 1. Não há muito a velocidade, mas observar o avanço de cada um é dramático. Em todos os lados temos um barco fazendo seu jogo'.

O Dongfeng Race Team por pouco não desistiu da etapa. Dessa vez, o problema no barco foi a máquina que transforma água do mar em doce. Mas, a situação é normalizada aos poucos.



'Nós estamos cansados ??depois de estar de plantão bombeando água. Ninguém tem qualquer privilégio, todo mundo tem que bombear água. Nós não comemos bem nos últimos dias. Não há água! Nós não fizemos o nosso miojo - minha comida favorita a bordo. A quebra nos levou de volta à Idade da Pedra', contou o chinês Black, tripulante do Dongfeng.

Os barcos partiram no domingo (19) de Itajaí, no Brasil, com destino a Newport, nos Estados Unidos. A flotilha deve chegar no início de maio ao destino.
