Victorian Match Racing Championships 2014 – Join in the action

The invitation is open for teams to join in the action at the 2014 Victorian Match Racing Championship. Sandringham Yacht Club
The Victorian Match Racing Championships, to be hosted by Sandringham Yacht Club, are on the weekend of the 19th and 20th July 2014.
The invitation to compete is open to Youth, Women and Open Teams from all States, Territories. Teams from outside Australia are also encouraged to apply for entry.
This year’s event sees the introduction of a Veterans Division which will help to boost the entry numbers and encourage some older sailors to either get back into the exciting discipline of Match Racing, or better still, give it a first time go.
Teams from Queensland and New South Wales, along with several Victorian clubs, have confirmed their intention to enter this year’s championship.
Racing will on the club’s Beneteau 7.5m sports boats with teams of between four and six sailors expected to enjoy the fast, furious action on Port Philip Bay.
The event’s race director, John Middleton, reports; 'The teams that competed in this month’s Queensland Match Racing Championships at Mooloolaba have all indicated they are keen to get to Melbourne do more racing.
'While they will find the weather a bit cooler in here, Match Racing in the club’s Beneteau sports boats will certainly be very hot.'
