Next Saturday will not be any ordinary Saturday of racing around a windward-leeward course on the harbour for the Sydney VX One fleet. Steve Barlow has generously donated his time and the use of his Riviera 44 to make a special event possible.
While the seabreeze is building Steve will tow four VX Ones up the coast from Sydney Harbour to Barrenjoey Headland at the entrance to Pittwater. Once up there we will set our kites and enjoy the sunshine and building Nor-easter on the ride back to Sydney Harbour.
What could be more fun than planing down the ocean swells before a cracking Nor-easter on a sunny Saturday afternoon?
When the breeze is up and we sail a normal windward leeward course we would beat to windward for about fifteen minutes and then enjoy about seven or eight minutes of flat out downwind fun. The difference this coming Saturday is that we are guaranteed more than an hour of surfing and planing as we travel down the coast from Pittwater to Sydney.
This will not be any ordinary Saturday and we are all looking forward to it!
