Ullman Sails names new VP and General Manager

Kelly Buchan has been named Vice President and General Manager of Ullman Sails International, Inc Ullman Sails
Kelly Buchan has been appointed the new Vice President and General Manager of Ullman Sails International, Inc., the license management office of the Ullman Sails group based in Newport Beach, CA, effective January 1, 2013.

Ullman Sails President and CEO David Ullman said, 'In Kelly’s five and half years with the company, she has made a substantial and positive impact on the internal operations of the Ullman Sails group. In recent years she has taken a central role in shifting our focus forward, facilitating and implementing projects that will affect the direction of Ullman Sails. I am pleased to recognize her work and look forward to much more from her in the future.'

In her new role Ms. Buchan will continue her management of group operations, but will increasingly direct her focus to business development. She has served as administrator for the Ullman Sails group since August 2007.

The Ullman Sails group is recognized as an international sailmaker with over 70 Ullman Sails locations, including produc­tion lofts, service facilities and dealers in over 25 countries worldwide. The group is made up of individually owned businesses built on a longstanding tradition of quality sailmaking, local service, accessible expertise, and above all, a passion for the sport of Ullman Sails

The three members of the Rag & Famish Hotel 18ft Skiff team all have family members who are part of 18 Footers history. Their three year old Rag & Famish Hotel boat was brought up to current specification only six months ago when class builder Van Munster Boats added a new deck to the existing hull.

QLD Beneteau Cup racing cancelled in blustery Moreton Bay conditions
Blustery conditions of 25 gusting 30k greeted the fleet in the second day of the Ensign Yachts Queensland Beneteau Cup. The sky was clear, but the wind and swell were in as the a blustery west-south-west blowing 25 knots gusting to 30 greeted the fleet in the second day of the Ensign Yachts Queensland Beneteau Cup. The race committee, after going out on the course to review the sea and wind conditions, made the prudent decision to postpone the first of the two scheduled windward/leeward races.

SAP 505 World Championship - Hong Kong team's mid life crisis
We are the ultimate 50 year-olds who wanted to get back into 505 sailing. I think we are having a mid-life crisis! The SAP 505 World Championship will start at Hamilton Island, Queensland, Australia on Saturday 26th March. Two Hong Kong sailors, Mark Thornburrow and Laurence Mead, who usually sail against each other have joined forces for this championship.
