2014 BIC World O'pen Cup - Junior sailor Jack Challands from Sandringham/Parkdale YC in Victoria took out the U13 O'pen Bic World Titles in Travemunde ,Germany. Jack sailed the last race of the series knowing a good result would ensure it was his.

After clinching the title he said ' It was a tough week especially with the quality of my competitors, but my hard work and training payed off. It was a dream start to the regatta with two bullets in the opening races in the 20+knt and 2m seas with the training on Port Philip Bay ensured I handled it well. My aim was consistency throughout and after winning the U13 Australian Title i could match it with the worlds best'.

Jack becomes the First Australian Male to take out an O'pen Bic World title following last year when Kristen Wadley of QLD took the title in Italy.

Jack is a member of the strong five member 'Magic Marine Team Austrlia' which competed in both the German Open Cup as a lead up regatta and the World O'pen Cup.

Results of the team:

Jack Challands - Sandringham\Parkdale YC - 2014 U13 World Champion
Kristen Wadley - Tinaroo SC - fifth U16 / U16 Female World Champion
Travis Wadley - Tinaroo SC - U13 14th place - and youngest competitor
George Morton - PPSC - U16 17th place
Breanne Wadley - Sailed German Open Cup at 7 years old

Well done to the team at the 125th Travemunde Week Regatta, many new friendships were made.

Australia has been awarded the 2015 O'Pen Bic World Cup with a big fleet expected.
