Do you dream of crewing on a yacht like this? SW
Selected yacht clubs in New South Wales are running a 'Try Crewing Day' on the 12th September. So if you or someone you know has ever dreamed of being part of a crew, now's the chance.
You'll learn the basics of sailing for free on a yacht and discover just how easy it is to participate regularly at all levels.
The Boating Industry Association of NSW is running the scheme, with support from Yachting NSW.
WHAT TO EXPECT ON THE DAY:
10.00AM – 11.15AM - at the club with a preliminary briefing, a beginner's guide to crewing, and meeting the skipper and the other crew
11.15AM – 1.15PM - onto the boat for a safety check, a tour of the boat, then a sail
1.15PM – 1.45PM - Back at the club, have an informal debrief and a light lunch
All the clubs involved run regular social, twilight and racing days and evenings. An important part of the Try Crewing Day is to let you know how to become a regular part of these events.
This year’s participating clubs are; Royal Motor Yacht Club in Port Hacking, the Middle Harbour Yacht Club in Mosman, the Gosford Sailing Club, the Newcastle Cruising Yacht Club in Wickham and RANSA in Rushcutter's Bay
Participants must register on line in advance at www.bia.org.au and must be over 18 years of age to participate. Numbers are strictly limited, so please ONLY register if you can make it on 12th September. Get going, make the call and get involved in a great day!
