The best of the Whitsundays broadcasted through documentary

Sailors and holiday-makers are encouraged to tune in to 7mate at 2pm this Friday, December 19 to watch a tourism-style documentary featuring the best of the Whitsundays.

The program ‘Great Barrier Reef – Sail into Paradise’ was filmed in August by Sydney-based crew RJ Media will be presented by Adam Digby.

The episode will highlight some of the region’s most popular tours, bars and hotspots and islands including Whitehaven Beach and the sailing and social highlights from the 25th Vision Surveys Airlie Beach Race Week.



A number of Airlie Beach locals and tourism operators were also interviewed for the program, including Whitsunday Sailing Club President Jim Hayes.

As the spokesperson for Airlie Beach Race Week, Mr Hayes said the sailing club was delighted to work with Tourism and Events Queensland to bring the episode to light.

'The Whitsundays is certainly one of the best destinations in the world, and the Whitsunday Sailing Club is proud to work alongside Tourism and Events Queensland and local tourism operators to put our region in the spotlight,' Mr Hayes said.

'We hope those who see the episode decide to come to Airlie Beach for their next holiday.'

Everyone is encouraged to watch the episode when it features on 7mate at 2pm on Friday, December 19.
