Sydney's Cruising Yacht Club- Around the World with La Boheme

It was a fantastic evening, enjoyed by a big crowd at the Cruising Yacht Club of Australia. The presenters were Gregory and Anna Haremza who cruised around the world in their yacht La Boheme for five years. As Gregory is a professional photographer, it should have been no surprise that the photos were staggering, but the occasional gasps from the sailing audience, who've seen a million photos already, said it all.

Gregory and his wife Anna set sail in June 2008 on an adventure of a lifetime—a cruising circumnavigation around the world that took over five years and more than 40,000nautical miles on their yacht, La Boheme, an Amel 2000 Super Maramu.

They left Pittwater and sailed along the East Coast of Australia to Thursday Island, Darwin, Bali, Christmas Island, Cocos Keeling, Rodrigues, Mauritius, Reunion, Richards Bay in South Africa and onto Durban, rounding the Cape of Good Hope to Capetown.

They joined the World ARC 2008/2009 and took part in the Heineken Race 'Cape to Bahia', via St Helena. On Sunday, 11th of January 2009, the husband and wife team went to the aid of a dismasted yacht with an injured single-handed skipper, which they towed under sail for 320nm to St Helena.

This is just one of the many adventures the Haremzas had on their epic voyage.

The CYCA has regular information evenings, varying widely in content, but always consistent in their quality.

To find out more or book for a future evening phone the club on 02 8292 7800.
