Sydney Sailboat Expo supports Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation

by Mel Yeomans on 23 Feb 2015

The Sydney Sailboat Expo is proud to support the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation. The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation is a foundation whose ideals and research the Sydney Sailboat Expo Team strongly believe in. We are pleased to be able to support the Foundation in Australia and look forward to their involvement in the Australian sailing community as well as the world wide sailing community.

Inspired by British double Olympic medallist Andrew 'Bart' Simpson, the Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation helps young people to develop their personal skills that will improve their ability to succeed in life and to improve access to jobs and careers within the maritime sector. Their activity principally focuses on young people between the age of five and twenty four, and they work to realise the opportunities presented by the unique combination of the challenge of time on the water with life changing inspiration and encouragement. The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation want to ensure that every young person, regardless of circumstance, is given the chance to achieve their potential through sailing.

Sydney Sailboat Expo founder Mel Yeomans attended the 2014 International Sailing Summit where CEO of the Foundation Richard Percy and Bart's Bash Founder Tony Bishop spoke. It was after hearing these talks that Mel spoke to Richard about the possibilities of the Foundation's involvement in Australia.

The Andrew Simpson Sailing Foundation has a special place in the heart of Australian Sailing as seen by the involvement of Australian Sailors in the Inaugural Bart's Bash. The ideals of the Foundation and Research being done by their team is extremely exciting for the sport of Sailing.

The Sydney Sailboat Expo will be held for the first time on 18-19 April 2015 10am – 4pm at the International College of Management, Sydney (ICMS) in Manly! The ICMS campus has a prestigious history as the former site of St Patrick’s Seminary, overlooking Sydney Harbour and the Pacific Ocean.
