It’s tough work even being a spectator of the Sydney Hobart Sydney 38 fleet as the top six yachts continue to jostle for first place on the third day of the race.
For the past twelve hours TSA Management has been leading the pack, but they are all so close you’d be mistaken for thinking you’re watching a Formula One race.
Jessica Watson’s Ella Bache has been edging up behind the leader throughout the race, reminding the fleet that this young crew is on a mission to win. And then there’s Bruce Foye’s the Goat, and Chris Lewin’s Deloitte as One both popping into and out of second place like a game of snakes and ladders.
Mondo and Dodo are sitting just behind these front runners, and at any stage this race could turn and put them in the lead. For a brief moment yesterday, Mondo was being reported by media outlets as the Handicap leader and first in the fleet, but this just added a dose of mystery to the race, as the race organisers had deduced their position somewhere on land south of Green Cape.
All the excitement continues as the fleet head through Bass Strait.
