St Barth Cata Cup - Countdown to the 7th edition

The seventh edition of the St Barth Cata Cup is set to be thrilling. Sixty teams will go head to head aboard the last generation of F18 boats: Hobbie Wild Cat, Nacra Infusion MKII, Cirrus R, Phantom and C2.

It is a high-speed, tactical, technical and spectacular discipline!

This year’s field of competitors is one of the best in the history of the regatta, particularly thanks to the presence of newcomers Mike Easton, Billy Besson and Marie Riou, the return of the Boulogne brothers, Tripp Burd and last edition’s champions Franck Cammas and Matthieu Vandame.

'We have the privilege to have many International level catsailors at the St Barth Cata Cup this year,' explains Hélène Guilbaud, from the organization. 'The Olympic preparation seems to be a determining factor for some of the high-level sailors who wish to hone their racing skills. Whatever the reason, the event has become one of the not-to-be-missed F18 races, which we are very proud of!'

In addition to the dozen of professional catsailors, the St Barth Cata Cup continues its commitment to allow amateur racers to cross swords with their idols. For the German amateur Frank Weigelt, who’s chance to take part in the event came at the very last minute, it’s a dream come true: 'I was really hoping to race at the St Barth Cata Cup and I guess I was also secretly wishing for one of the German teams to cancel. My wish came true last week and I will be privileged to be a part of the F18 amateurs in St Barth in November.'
