If you - or they - are anywhere close enough, tell your non-sailing friends! Southport Yacht Club on Queensland's Gold Coast will host a free 'Discover Sailing Day' at the Club’s Hollywell Sail Training facility, Sunday 30 March 2014.

The Discover Sailing Day is aimed at increasing public awareness in sailing, especially amongst children, promoting the message: Sailing is for Everyone – it can be cheap, simple, safe and fun!

The event is open to everyone, with children and adults given the opportunity to ‘go for a sail’, under the guidance of qualified instructors. Buoyancy vests and all sailing equipment is provided. Attendees will need to bring swimmers, hat, sunscreen, towel, old sandshoes and a desire to have fun!

Mum and Dad can relax under the Clubhouse patio whilst watching the kids sailing. Breakfast and coffees will be available from the Club’s Waterfront cafe from 7.30am.

The Discover Sailing Day commences at 9am and concludes at 1pm.

Hollywell Sail Training facility is located at 1 Marina Crescent, Hollywell on Queensland’s Gold Coast.

For more information please contact Southport Yacht Club's Hollywell Sailing Squadron on 07 5537 7030 or sailing@southportyachtclub.com.au

But no matter where you are, there is probably a club near you that has a 'Discover Sailing Day'. Encourage your non-sailing friends to discover the joy of being on the water, and find a new leisure time activity to stay healthy and involved.

Inspiring solo sailor Lisa Blair likes to lighten mood every now and then even when describing life-and-death situations Inspiring solo sailor Lisa Blair likes to lighten the mood every now and then, even when describing life-and-death situations. So she won’t mind being described as someone who could talk under water. And it’s just as well because the gathering of sailors young and old at Gosford Sailing Club hung on to her every word as she described her amazing seafaring adventures.
