Sopot Match Race - Team Gilmour all set

by Team Gilmour on 31 Jul 2014

After a three week break from Match Racing Team Gilmour are back at it for the third stage of the Alpari World Match Racing Tour in Sopot, Poland. Sopot is often referred to as the 'Riviera of the Baltic' with beautiful beaches and an extensive timber pier reaching out into the Baltic Sea for the spectators to observe the sailing.

Although the Match Racing has been a little quite over the last few weeks the boys have been busy with other competitive sailing. With Dave and Ed competing in the 49er European Championships in Helsinki, Pete and Luke sailing in the German 505 Nationals and Will spending sometime sailing in San Fran.

Here we will be sailing Diamant 3000s which are a heavy 30 foot boat, sailed with four crew. Boats like these are often sailed with five crew so their in no shortage of work for the crew to do here. The forecast for the week looks good, with high temperatures and good winds, ideal for spectators to get out on the pier and watch some exciting racing!

We had a productive training session on the water this afternoon and are ready for the start of the qualifying round tomorrow morning!

The teams competing this week are below:

Ian Williams (GBR) GAC Pindar
Björn Hansen (SWE) Hansen Sailing Team
Keith Swinton (AUS) Team Alpari FX
