The sailing season is well and truly underway at RPYC, with plenty of exciting sailing opportunities available.
Firstly, our opening twilight of the season will be on Friday the seventh of November, with the first fleet starting at 1800.
After your sailing you will be able to enjoy the usual great dining options of BBQ, pizzas, fish and chips and the salad bar on the lawn and entertainment from Chris and Sherri Murphy.
Twilights will then revert back the usual Thursday nights, except for the following dates when you will be able to enjoy a Friday twilight cruise for something a little different:
• Friday 5th December
• Friday 9th January
• Friday 6th February
• Friday 27th March
Twilight sailing on the Swan River is a great experience, so take the opportunity to enjoy a relaxing sail, watch the sun set and then settle in on the lawn for the usual BBQ and entertainment. We hope to see you out on your boat with your family and friends soon!
Following a relaxing twilight cruise and night on the lawn on the Friday night, make your way back to the Club on Saturday for racing with a difference this week.
Windward/Leeward Courses
On Saturday the eighth of November All Classes will sail windward/leeward courses instead of the usual Saturday fixed mark courses. This is a new concept with two race days designated for the 2014-15 season.
RPYC, SoPYC and RFBYC will host windward / leeward courses in Melville Water. SoPYC will lay courses in Melville Water East (MWE) and RFBYC will lay courses in Melville Water West (MWW). RPYC will assist with the race management by providing finish boats and personnel for both course areas. Fleets have been divided up between SoPYC and RFBYC.
The following fleets will sail on the RFBYC course in Melville Water West, two races are scheduled for each fleet:
Fleet - Start Time for Race 1
• Etchells - 1300
• BW8 - 1300
• Division 1 - 1500
• Division 2 - 1500
The following fleets will sail on the SoPYC course in Melville Water East, two races are scheduled for each fleet:
Fleet - Start Time for Race 1
• S97 - 1230
• S80 - 1230
• Division 3 - 1230
• Endeavour 24 - 1430
Please ensure you read the supplementary sailing instructions and courses in conjunction with the respective Standard Sailing Instructions from the Club hosting your Fleet and course area. All documents are available on the RPYC website under ‘Redbook and Course Sheets’ in the sailing section.
Please double check where your fleet is starting, as it will be different to usual. Raw finish times will be distributed to individual Clubs for result processing.
It is great to have the Clubs working together to bring this concept to fruition. We encourage all our fleets to support the windward/leeward racing and anticipate an enjoyable afternoon will be experienced by all fleets.
