The Chicago Yacht Club’s 103rd Race to Mackinac presented by Veuve Clicquot will receive world wide coverage, as a result of a recent contract signed between the largest marine news network in the world, Sail-World.com and the Chicago Yacht Club.

[Sorry, this content could not be displayed] Sail-World.com has regional sites around the world, with Sail-World USA, Sail-World Canada, Sail-World Europe, Sail-World Asia, Sail-World NZ and Sail-World Australia providing news to over 1.8 million sailors each year.

Matthew Gallagher, chair of the Chicago Yacht Club's Communications Committee and a first-time Mac skipper said ‘We are thrilled with our new relationship with www.Sail-World.com. The opportunity to tell the story of our race to their world-wide audience is one we here at Chicago Yacht Club are greatly excited about.’

Heading up the Sail-World Team in Chicago will be Sail-World USA Editor, David Schmidt.

David, formerly SAIL Magazine’s Senior Editor (2006-2010) and now Editor at large, commented today. ‘Sail-World.com is unique in that it is a 24x7 news operation world-wide. For more racing audiences we are probably best known for our America’s Cup, Olympic and Volvo Ocean race coverage.

‘As well as covering major events in great detail, Sail-World.com often acts as the official media for major events around the world.

‘We have been the official media for Auckland, San Francisco and Fremantle Etchells Worlds, A-Cat, F18 and Contender World championships, the Monsoon Cup, Asia biggest keelboat regatta, the Kings Cup and many famous Australian events including the 500+ boat Geelong Week regatta.

‘In Chicago and Mackinac with me, we will have Sail-World Publisher Rob Kothe and Sail-World North America’s Elizabeth Kerr and Greg Nicoll and we will be supplying news content to over 400 media organizations, across North America and internationally.

‘We are also looking forward to providing much more detailed coverage than ever before to our own readership of this iconic sailing event.

News from the Chicago Yacht Club’s 2011 Race to Mackinac will go to 40,000 Sail-World newsletter readers in North America, 10,000 in UK, Europe and 50,000 in the Asia Pacific and will be seen by more than 200,000 readers/viewers across the Sail-World network world-wide.
