Sail-World switched to a new version of the site Thursday morning Antipodean time.
Readers in New Zealand may be viewing Sail-World Australia when they open Sail-World for the first time. This is due to a geolocation technical issue which can affect some devices and systems.
Here's the simple way to apply a one-off, one-click fix.
We have provided a manual override to help you set Sail-World up for NZ, Cruising Australia or whatever region you wish, by going to the top of the site and selecting
New Zealand Edition (or your preferred region) from the drop down box.
This should set a default for all future accesses of Sail-World from that browser.
We are working to improve geo-location as much as we can, but feel the manual override to give you a choice of site and region is the best option to view your choice of over 25 sites in the Sail-World network world-wide.
We are having some other issues that are being resolved by our technical team and expect to be back up to cruising speed in a few hours.
The main changes to the site (aside from the underlying technology) should be a much faster opening time on stories and a crisper site appearance. The site will be more integrated with social media - the first glimpse of which you can see with the add comment feature under each story.
Unfortunately, there is only so much testing that we can do on a test site, and need to get a feel for how the new Sail-World is running under load, before making further decisions and optimisation.
We would appreciate a heads-up on any issues that you see - please email to sailworld@gmail.com
