CYC Race to Mackinac 2010 Event Media
TetraMedia's Sail-World is unique in that it’s a global sailing news network; as a result, we have editors and sub-editors working around the clock.
In North America we have US and Canadian editors and East Coast and West coast sub-editors, who take the news watch baton from Sail-World Europe and Sail-World UK and later pass it on to our New Zealand, Australian and Asian editors and sub-editors in a 24x7 news operation.
For over a decade the Sail-World team has been the official event media for many events around the Asia Pacific and now our North American team are using our media systems and methods to report for some of the biggest events on the sailing calendar, again as the official media.
Our strong North America TetraMedia Sail-World media team will be at the iconic Chicago Yacht Club’s 103rd Race to Mackinac, presented by Veuve Clicquot, next week shooting video, reporting and photographing as you'd expect. Yes I know its a pain but we will get used to drinking Champagne, rather than Hahn Premium Light (the long time Hamilton Island staple) if we stick at it.
Last year line honours in the 289.4 nautical mile race on Lake Michigan was won by Hong Kong sailor Karl Kwok with his 86 footer Beau Geste and his largely Kiwi crew.
And if you think our world-wide sailing audience is going to get a big dose of US racing between July 13th and 20th, the main fleet heads out of the 16th, you are right, but that's fair.
The Sydney to Hobart and the Queensland Northern Series each winter and just about everything that happens on Auckland Harbour, are down under sailing events our North American audience has learned quite a lot about in recent years, especially the 40,000 who receive newsletters every few days as you do.
So it will be your turn to hear about the biggest sailing event in the US, being raced at the height of the northern hemisphere summer.
To learn about this race, you can go to www.cycracetomackinac.com and in the coming days you will see the same intense event media coverage, you are used to, half a world away.
