Excitement is mounting and the planning is well in hand for the annual Sail Sandy Regatta to be sailed on the waters of Port Phillip off Sandringham Yacht Club over the weekend of October 18 and 19, 2014.

Traditionally Melbourne’s first multi-class Off the Beach regatta for each new season, this year Sail Sandy 2014 is also the first event in Yachting Victoria’s 2014-15 OTB Marine Junior Championship for monohull and multihull classes. Youth and Junior competitors will be keen to make a good start in that Series at Sail Sandy 2014.

After 20 years, the Sail Sandy regatta remains a non-sponsored event run entirely by a large group of enthusiastic, experienced and well skilled Volunteers on and off the water, ensuring that races are well run and participation remains affordable for all competitors. Sandringham Yacht Club acknowledges the valuable support of all their Volunteers and those from our kindred clubs in the conducting of this iconic event. We simply couldn’t do it without you!

With nearly one hundred boats entered already for Sail Sandy 2014, entries are rolling in with the following monohull classes well represented: 29er, Optimist, 420, 505, Open Bic, Laser 4.7 and Laser Radial, International Cadet, RS200, Minnow and Tasar.

For the first time, Multihull classes have also been invited to participate at Sail Sandy 2014 and entries are already in from Vipers and Mosquitoes with room for plenty more.

With just over two weeks to go, it’s time to dust off your boat, organise your crew and make sure you get your entry in soon!

The Sandringham Yacht Club website has all the details.

For all enquiries regarding Sail Sandy 2014 please contact the SYC Boating Office, Tel 03 9598 7444 or email boating@syc.com.au

Sandringham Yacht Club looks forward to welcoming you all to Sail Sandy 2014.
