What a beautiful day for the last day of Sail Port Stephens 2012.

Sailors have short memories - why we keep going back and back to the Sydney Hobart race.

The first record wet days of Sail Port Stephen 2012 are now just a distant memory. We can be sure this beautiful last day will encourage an even bigger fleet for this event in 2013.

Yesterday two very dominant boats stood out from the 165 racing across all the divisions, in this record fleet.

In the Elliott 7 Australian Championship is being sailed on Salamander Bay. Aaron Terrey’s Selden Deck Hardware has won all six of the races so far contested, with three races planned for today to complete the series. This fleet will have its first warning signal at 1025am.

In the NSW IRC titles being sailed north of Cabbage Tree Island, Marcus Blackmore’s TP52 Hooligan has won all four races so far on handicap. Yesterday the five times Sydney Hobart line honours skipper Mark Richards was on the helm. The warning signal for the last two races in this series will be at 1125am.

Today the Performance Cruising fleets will be sailing off the d’Albora Marina start line, first warning at 1035.

The Performance Racing fleet first warning 1055. Both fleets will go offshore on course 1, the figure 8 course around Cabbage Tree, Little and Boondelbah Islands.

If you can get down to the rock wall off the Fishermans Coop in Nelson Bay it will be a great spectacle on this beautiful Sunday morning.
