Sail Port Stephens Junior Regatta fun Sail Port Stephens Event Media
The two day Sail Port Stephens Junior Regatta, being sailed from Port Stephens Sailing and Aquatic Club just in front of Salamander Shores, commenced today at 12 noon.
34 boats started this inaugural school holiday regatta; a mixture of O’Pen Bics, Sabots and a Laser 4.7. It’s a great venue and a wonderful stretch of water and on day 1 the excited participants were greeted with eight to ten knots of breeze and patches of sunshine peeking through the cloud cover. It would not surprise observers to see a hundred or more boats entering this event in a couple of years time.
A detailed report on this new junior initiative will be published tomorrow.
Today, Thursday 19 April, was a lay day for large numbers of the cruising fleet who sailed in the Commodores Cup and will be sailing on and competing in the Sail Port Stephens Trophy Series, commencing this Friday.
Tomorrow as part of Sail Port Stephens 2012, the Elliott 7 class will conduct their Australian Championship.
