Sail Mooloolaba 2013- somebody has turned on the tap

It’s that rather strange time in an event manager’s life when the tap seems to have mystically been turned on and regatta entries start to flood in. Entries for the fourth annual Sail Mooloolaba week-long celebration of sailing are rolling in, finally. For the Sports Boats Winter Nationals being held on 22nd and 23r July, 22 entries are in from NSW, West Australia and Queensland. Event manager, Darren Spence, still expects another four boats to enter, making Sail Mooloolaba a record-breaking Australian event for Sports Boats. The SB20 Division has attracted six entries including Victoria’s Chris Dare. [Sorry, this content could not be displayed] In the Dingy Division, being held on 29th and 30th June, adults and youth from around Queensland are heading to Mooloolaba to compete in the 420s, Laser, Laser 4.7, Laser Radial, 505 , Contender, Optimist and Sabot classes. The expected 25 Optimist Green fleet youth will be racing on the protected waters of Mooloolah River. Running alongside the Dinghy Division will be the exciting Arrow Class State Championship. Hungarians claim 15th FD Worlds title Kieler Woche, held in the height of summer, concluded on Sunday (June 28) with the final sailing races in the international classes. Szabolcs Majthenyi and András Domokos from Hungary were crowned Flying Dutchman world champions - for the 15th time.

The heat has been on in Torbay The heat has been on in Torbay, with one day lost due to lack of wind and searing heat. Day 4 was marginally better but searing heat still. Some had questioned whether they had the right kit for the conditions as the experienced another light wind day.

Close to 50 yachts battle it out on Argentario Gulf, 1 day closer to finale still all to be written.
