Raptor - 2013 ASBA Winter Nationals Champion Teri Dodds
Mark Buchbach's Stealth Raptor took out the inaugural Sports Boat Winter Nationals at this weekend's Sail Mooloolaba. Around him raced other fleets - SB20s, multihulls and monhulls, but the star of the weekend was clearly the powerful Raptor.
Mooloolaba was back to its absolute best winter conditions - full sun, 10 to 15 southerly and gentle swell as over 40 boats took to Mooloolaba Bay to contest Sail Mooloolaba 2013 in Monohull Performance, Multihull Performance, SB20s and Sports Boats divisions.
Photographer Teri Dodds was the on water to capture the best moments of the superb weekend.
The Multihull Division winner was John Stark's trimaran, New Tricks. John and his team of Peter Hope and Graham Gillies had so much fun on the water they just didn't want to stop racing.
It's the quiet ones you want to watch. Under 'staffed' the biggest boat of the monohull fleet, Dean and Kylee Corbett's Beneteau 54 footer (sail number 1027), just quietly powered around the course and into handicap honours.
The SB20s were having a ball out on the course. The winner was Port Douglas's Peter Jones.
Winner of Division 2 of the Sports Boat Winter Nationals was Jason Ruckert's Mister Magoo.
And the overall winner of the inaugural Sports Boat Winter Nationals is....... Raptor !
