After four days of twelve races against boats from several European nations, the crew of Neapolitan Vincenzo Onorato - already three times World Champion Farr 40 (2006, 2007, 2008) - won the major title, confirming absolute leader in European standings.

The Championship was marked by unstable winds, which made choices and tactics during the racing difficult. Mascalzone won with five firsts, two seconds, a sixth, fourth and eighth place, totaling 27 points in the general classification.

Together with Onorato were: Adrian Stead (tactical), Matteo Savelli (navigator), Andrea Ballico (trimmer), Davide Scarpa (bowman), Gerry Mitchell (mainsail), Marco Cornacchia (trimmer), Tim Burnell (halyards), Adriano Figone (tree) and Roberta de Paul Ambrosi (wildcard).

Closest challenger was Joe Fly, compatriot John Maspero, former vice World Champion in 2008, who finished second to Mascalzone by just one point. Third in the standings was the Finn Siragusawa of Lumijärvi and Olli-Pekka with 37 points.

Besides the title of European Champion Farr 40 2008, Mascalzone Latino won the Circuit Nordic European Farr 40 2008, whose first stage was won in July in the waters of Copenhagen.

Vincenzo Onorato assured everyone that; 'Although this is the last race with this boat, we have built a new Farr 40, ready to defend the titles next season.'
