02 - Objective Australia - Red Bull Youth AC - Day 2 John Navas
Objective Australia's woes with their with gennaker halyards continued on the second day of racing in the Red Bull Youth America's Cup, with the halyard again giving way at a vital point of the race for the promising Australian crew.
Videographer John Navas was on hand to catch the latest incident.
All AC45's used in the Red Bull Youth AC are supplied and maintained by America's Cup Regatta Management and are not handled by team's shore crews. At a redress hearing last night covering issues in the first two races, the International Jury gave the team redress for the first race, - being a shredded halyard casing, however on the second failure the halyard slipped in the cleat which was deemed to be a crew contributory error, and therefore no redress could be given.
Here's the still image sequence of the halyard failure
