Raja Muda proposes TP52 division, and more

by RMSIR Media on 6 May 2015
Flat out racing machine. TP52 Oi! on the pace in Langkawi. Royal Langkawi International Regatta 2015 Guy Nowell http://www.guynowell.com
The organising committee for the 26th Raja Muda Selangor International Regatta (RMSIR) has been approached by some boat owners who are keen to form an Asian TP52 group to race in regional regattas. The number of TPs in Asia has grown steadily in the last few years, and with the arrival of new boats recently the opportunity now exists to run truly competitive racing for these Grand Prix sailboats, to rival events in the US and Europe.

The Raja Muda folks are enthusiastic to include a TP52 class in their 2015 event, probably as a sub-group in Class 1. This should not affect the other regular Class 1 boats that are the mainstay of RMSIR, but provide greater competition all round. The decision to proceed will depend on the number of TP owners who can commit to taking part in the 26th RMSIR event, or give a strong indication of intent. The opportunity exists for this group of TPs to move on to the Phuket King's Cup in Thailand in December and the Royal Langkawi International Regatta in early January, as well as other regional events. Owners who want to maximise the opportunity to compete against yachts of the same design and very similar IRC ratings should give this proposal some serious thought. RMSIR class details will be decided on by the Race Officer and the Committee and currently they welcome input from owners and skippers.

So, if you would like to sail your flat out racing platform in a mixture of onshore and offshore courses, competing for a prize in a TP52 fleet as well as for the Raja Muda Cup, please register your interest on the web site www.rmsir.com - before the end of June if possible.
