RYA Dinghy Show - Inspìre your club members

by Susie NationGrainger on 6 Feb 2015
Are you a club patrol boat volunteer? Clive Grant, author of the RYA Instructor Handbook and the Army powerboat trainer, returns to the show to provide essential tips to increase your confidence, promote good practice and give the lowdown on how to recover some of the more modern foiling classes (mainstage at 11:15). Title sponsors Suzuki Marine will also be showcasing a range of RYA specified safety boat packages on stand F10. - RYA Dinghy Show 2015 RYA http://www.rya.org.uk
2015 RYA Suzuki Dinghy Show is being held from 28 February to 01 March. If your club is looking for advice on legal issues, tips on increasing club membership or perhaps more knowledge about club racing then don’t miss the Show.

Held at Alexandra Palace, North London, the show provides a fantastic opportunity to get your club members together in the winter and pick up information and advice to prepare for the season ahead.

Back by popular demand, the RYA Club Clinics supported by Arthur J. Gallagher will offer 1-2-1 sessions with leading RYA experts, giving you the opportunity to discuss the key issues which can make a huge difference to your club. The 30 minute sessions will run throughout the weekend in the Panorama Hall on a number of different topics.

• Legal advice with RYA Legal Advisor, Mandy Peters or RYA Legal Manager, Gus Lewis
• Technical and Racing services advice from Portsmouth Yardstick to equipment rules guidance with RYA Technical Co-ordinator, Debbi Smith, or Bas Edmonds, Technical and Racing Services Manager
• Club development, increasing membership and participation with one of the RYA’s Regional Development Officers
• RYA Training: with Amanda Van Santen, RYA Chief Instructor, Dinghy and Windsurfing
• Champion clubs: youth and junior racing with one of the RYA’s High Performance Managers
• OnBoard: getting young people into sailing and windsurfing with Cat Ferguson, RYA OnBoard Operations Officer
• How to make disability plain sailing with Debbie Blachford, Sailability Manager or Leon Ward, Sailability Development Officer

The RYA Club Briefing (Saturday 1030 - 1130) will provide expert guidance to make your 2015 season a success. RYA staff will be presenting on a range of topics that will include RYA Push the Boat Out, CASC updates, changes to the youth and adult training schemes and other topics. Each club can send up to two representatives and each attendee will receive a complimentary ticket which can be picked up at the Briefing.

If your club already has CASC (community amateur sports club) status or thinking about it, RYA Legal Advisor Mandy Peters will be running one hour workshops on both Saturday and Sunday at 12:00 covering changes to the scheme that come into effect in April 2015.

The booking form for the workshops, clinics and briefing can be found here

One of the biggest events in the club calendar this year is RYA Push the Boat Out and on Sunday the RYA is running an ‘activators’ workshop which will help you to make the most your PTBO open day and taster sessions. If your club is planning a Push the Boat Out event click here to register your event with us. You will then receive an invitation to attend the PTBO Activator workshop.

RYA Club Support Advisor Jackie Bennetts said: 'The show is an opportunity to ‘kick start’ the sailing season and find out what’s new from the RYA. There are talks and coaching sessions from top experts to inspire your members to get out on the water and improve sailing skills all year round.'

RYA Affiliated clubs can also take advantage of a special ticket price of £9.50 when booking 10 or more tickets at a time. Find your RYA club ticket discount code here If your club is planning on organising a group trip to the show, you can purchase tickets online or via the ticket hot line and take advantage of the group discount price.
