RS Aero Winter Youth Training - Extreme conditions challenges

RS Aero Winter Youth Training Peter Barton
RS Aero Winter Youth Training - The weekend of 21/22nd November saw opposite extremes for the first RS Aero Winter training weekend at Reading Sailing Club. On Saturday the gusts were hitting 30 knots whilst Sunday was a day for practicing very light airs. Variety for training is great and this certainly provided both ends of the spectrum!

Sailors demonstrated their confidence in the breeze and squad coach Paul Robson took this great video of Caitie Atkin showing some great downwind technique through the challenging gusts.

The second Winter training weekend is coming up this weekend 5/6th December at Lymington Town Sailing Club. With an open invite to the local fleet of 27 and a few loan boats available too it will be a fun weekend. Four half day sessions are planned making the most of the ever changing Western Solent conditions and, being at Lymington, we shall have a focus on;

- Starting in tide
- Racing in tide
- Sailing in choppy waves

If you are interested in joining in please contact our Youth Coordinator, Peter Atkin on youthcoordinator@rsaerosailing.org or Peter Barton on manager@rsaerosailing.org.

After New Year the RS Aero squad joins with the RS Tera squad again at:

- 23/24th January, Draycote SC
- 13/14th February, Northampton SC
- 12/13th March, Oxford SC
