The annual Beware of the Bullets Regatta on Pittwater November 22 – 23 is now open for registration. Palm Beach Sailing Club, the Northern Beaches only beach multihull club, hosts the regatta with a great turn out of novices to world and Olympic champions every year.
The regatta is open to all beach catamarans and trimarans typically including a turn out of A Class, Hobies of all kinds, Nacras, F18s, F16s, and Weta trimarans. This year the regatta will also be hosting the NSW Maricat State Titles and a travelers series.
'The weather is always unpredictable for this weekend and usually pretty exciting so we're always prepared.' Race Officer David Renouf explains. 'This year could be different though but either way, Pittwater and the Bullets Regatta is always great preparation for the State and National titles that come up in December.'
The Bullets Regatta is a family event with a post-race BBQ on Saturday and a youth division. The protected beach, shade tree, grassy areas and shallow water at Sandy Beach is also a popular family hang out with small children and families that aren't sailing.
The registration, big breaky and a pres-sail BBQ will be at the club house at the corner of Iluka and Barrenjoey Rd with the boat ramp and parking area down the road at Sand Point. Depending on the weather there will be 4-5 races Saturday and three on Sunday.
Local sponsors include Sailing Scene, Bigfoot Bags and Covers, Just Multihulls, and Andrew J. Nelson.
Notice of race, schedule and details can be found on the Palm Beach Sailing Club website.
