PWA Sylt World Cup Day 6 - Frustrating day on hold

by Chris Yates on 5 Oct 2012
Oliver Tom Schliemann - 2012 PWA Sylt World Cup John Carter / PWA http://www.pwaworldtour.com
The sixth day was the first without wind at the PWA Sylt World Cup and this meant that the slalom fleet spent a frustrating day on hold. Towards the end of the day, there were signs that the wind would kick in however suitable slalom conditions never developed and the day was concluded shortly after 4:30pm.

Tomorrow will see the world premiere of Andre Paskowski and Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo (Fanatic / North) at the 2012 Windsurfing Film Festival held at the cinema in Westerland, Sylt. There will also be a number of other films presented in front of hundreds of people. Grab your ticket at the Fanatic tent tomorrow from 2pm ready for the show to begin at 10pm. With the premiere just over a day away we caught up with Andre Paskowski.

PWA: Can you tell us a little bit more about your latest project RAW, which consists of the movies Magic Moments and Rewarded?

AP: 'Both of the Movies fit closely together. Rewarded, which is a movie about Jose ‘Gollito’ Estredo (Fanatic / North), was definitely my aim this year. After our last DVD I did not really know how to continue. But from time to time it was more clear that this is really what I want to do. Showing a life and not only a movie. It was great fun doing the movie. I consider Gollito as one of my best friends. He is there for me if I need him. The movie should describe him in all areas. It should also make him happy.

I am very happy with the outcome. The Magic Moments movie is connected with Rewarded, it shows myself and explains my state of mind right now, but it should also give hope to people in any situation of life plus it should show the connection of Gollito, Gollito’s Movie and me.'

PWA: Do the titles of the movies have a special meaning to you?

AP: 'I am really bad at choosing titles or are making decisions. Magic Moments yes. It was clear from the first moment I saw the movie. It describes moments where you experience something extraordinary in life. Something which will be saved in your mind forever. I somehow look at other people and recognize this and it makes me really emotional, especially in sports.

Rewarded: Me and some very good friends in Tarifa looked for names. On the wall was an old Poster of giving a reward of $50.000 for some gangster. Somehow I thought it fits.'

PWA: Who was involved in helping you to make your latest masterpieces?

AP: 'I filmed all three parts in Fuerte, Manu Grafenauer (Fanatic / North) helped me a great deal and also created the footage for Magic Moments. In Tarifa Sebastian worked with me. The Editing is done again by Sebastian Dörr.'

The forecast for tomorrow is best in the morning, so with this in mind the skippers meeting has been called for 9am for all three disciplines with the action commencing from 09:30am.
