Marine Auctions is holding its Online Auction of Marina Berths with the bidding to commence on Friday 30 August and ending 3pm Wednesday 4 September.
On offer, various marina berths up and down the Queensland coastline: Rivergate Marina; Scarborough, Southport on the Gold Coast, Manly Harbour, Yorkey's Knob, Mackay Marina, Dockside Marina and more.
According to agent, Mark Meallin, this is your chance to own a piece of marine community for a great price, ahead of the predicted boom as the next wave of Baby Boomers retires.
'To have your own marina berth is to own a piece of highly desirable marine community, they’re a hub for socialising, regattas, and the wider community enjoying the facilities.'
As Meallin explains: 'Marina berths are offering 5-10% net return, depending on their location and demand and outgoings. It’s a better investment than cash in the bank!'
Marine Queensland and the BIAA predict demand will only outstrip supply. 'It’s so hard to get EPA approval and financing, given the GFC, for new marinas. Investors are in line to enjoy a boom in people wanting berths in two to four years, as Boomers who are living longer and wanting to spend their leisure time on the water, retire.'
Meallin continues: 'Marina berths have come down in price about 20-30% since the GFC and they represent great returns for investors. You are buying a leasehold which means you have the right to lease it out for a defined period. Some of the berths we’re auctioning have a leasehold from six to 95 years. And they are all in fantastic locations, very special places, like Mackay Marina, Port of Airlie, Cairns, Southport.'
The marina berths have various reserves and bids will be immediately referred to vendors, with a 10% deposit required on acceptance.
All details are online at www.marineauctions.com.au. Bidders are required to register. The auction begins August 30 and finishes 3pm, Wednesday 4 September.
