Newcomer Invitational and Open Training - Bowmoor Sailing Club

by Debbie Darling on 7 Aug 2014
RS Feva. David Bickerton
The UK RS Feva Class Association are holding an invitational-open training event for sailors who are new or recently transitioning to the RS Feva. Typically these will be experienced in racing junior dinghies, and may be interested in obtaining a place at one of the RYA National-zone squads or Class squads.

The training will be conducted by experienced RS Feva coaches and will focus on transitioning to the RS Feva XL. Sessions will include rigging and setup, boat handling, communication, asymmetric spinnaker handling and other key aspects involved in racing the RS Feva XL.

This training is open to anyone but aimed at those with racing experience looking to transfer from junior classes into the RS Feva class.

A limited number of boats will be available to charter for the weekend, and if you do not already have a helm or a crew in mind to sail with, we can assist in pairing sailors.

The cost of the coaching will be £40 per sailor (£80 per boat) for the weekend, including free camping, if required.
RS Sailing are able to supply a limited number of full race specification charter boats for the weekend at a cost of £50 per boat.

Attendees will also be available to be considered for a RS Feva Class support bursary, which may include the use of a full race specification RS Feva for the Winter Training programme for either National Junior-Class-Zone or Open Training squad. This will be for the most promising team and will be chosen by the Class selection team.

We have some great coaches lined up for the weekend which will focus on introducing skills specific to the RS Feva and Asymmetric double handed sailing generally.

To book a place or for more information please email secretary@rsfeva.org.uk
