New Product of the Week- Solar battery maintainer

by Des Ryan on 21 Oct 2009
New more powerful solar battery maintainer SW
This SE170 product is a simple-to-connect way of maintaining the battery on a small boat when you are not present, and is 25% more powerful than its predecessors.

The new ICP Global Technology solar battery maintainer costs only around $40, is green, effective and mounts almost anywhere.

As it keeps your battery healthy all the time it can save up to $500 in battery boosting and replacements over the lifetime of the battery. It is very simple to use. There's no need for a charge controller(unless you are using AGM or gel batteries). If your battery is a long way from the sunshine, there is an extra extension that you can order with the maintainer (at extra cost, around $10)

Providing 2.6 watts at a maximum current of 170mA, it will replace 8.5lbs of CO2 emissions per year, thus reducing your carbon footprint.

To use it merely attach it anywhere in the sun by the suction cups that come with it. There's a touch-action LED indicator that lets you know when it is charging, and the easy connectors require no tools.

Best of all, it comes with a ten year warranty.

Tips for using:
While solar panels can help recharge batteries, remember they need direct sunlight to work. For best results when maintaining a battery using solar on your boat or marine application, remember to watch for shading. Strategically install the solar panel to receive optimum sun. This may include watching for shadows cause by rails, docks, masts, cabins and other potential solar blockages.

The products is made in Canada, and available online, by clicking http://www.sunsei.com/SE-170?sc=12&category=307!here.
