New Langkawi venue for Raja Muda

by Event Media on 24 Aug 2014
. RMSIR
Just when the Rala Muda was 'going home' after a brief sojourn at Telaga Harbour, the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club is undergoing a major renovation and most of the buildings, including Charlie’s Bar, will be closed in November 2014. ‘No bar is no good’ for a quality sailing event like the Raja Muda, so regatta organisers have had to seek out an alternative venue for the regatta office and to provide sailors with the appropriate facilities before and after racing. So RMSIR has a new home in Langkawi this year – the Bella Vista Waterfront Resort and Spa, often referred to as ‘Cinderella’s Castle’ on account of its remarkable resemblance to a piece of misplaced Disneyland.

Bella Vista will provide a 'one stop shop' for the Regatta Office, Official Notice Board, reception of luggage and cargo, and accommodation for race officials and other regatta staff. Located on the sea front right opposite the safe anchorage area in the north east of Kuah Harbour, the hotel’s boat ramp will provide easy access for any yachts crews that choose to drop the hook. A hotel-to-boat ferry service will be provided, including all night on Thursday 20th, and owners may also use their own tender. The good news is that the beach bar is a just a few steps away when you jump ashore! Even better, it also a good deal larger than Charlie's. We will wait before passing judgement on the fish and chips.

There will still be some space on the pontoons at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club for those who prefer to berth there and travel to their hotel by road. Please inform RMSIR Race Management where you intend to park your vessel when you arrive in Langkawi.
For added convenience, sailors are being encouraged to book accommodation at Bella Vista. Special rates for participants are quoted below and the quality of rooms has been checked by our highly trained Social Coordinators, who consider them to be clean, well-equipped and good value. If you want five star plus quality you may like to go elsewhere but if you want to get up, have breakfast, check the notice board and then hop on a short ferry ride direct to your yacht, this is the place to be.

Early reservations are strongly encouraged, as the regatta dates in Langkawi coincide with the start of school holidays in Malaysia.
