Multihull Central's new service representative in Queensland

by Brent Vaughan on 17 May 2012
Craig Humphries has more than 20 years experience. Seawind Catamarans
Multihull Central is pleased to announce the appointment of a new Service Representative, Craig Humphries, to provide expert repair and maintenance services for multihulls located in South East Queensland region.

Craig is a great addition to the service team already provided at Multihull Central’s Sydney Harbour marina headquarters, by extending services into Brisbane and South East Queensland.

Craig has had over 20 years experience in yacht maintenance after his career started by maintaining a 65ft catamaran doing day sails and evening cruises in the Caribbean, following a strict maintenance schedule to ensure the boat was kept at 5 star Hyatt standards. Craig eventually moved to Airlie Beach where he provided maintenance on charter boats plus major refits on the Maxi yachts operating sailing charters in the area.

Craig has also worked in the Mediterranean, USA and UK by gradually working his way up onto increasingly larger boats, from Robertson and Caine 4500s to Richard Branson’s 108ft catamaran Necker Belle. This generally entailed full time maintenance, charters and owner trips, and many miles of sailing alongside his wife, Jo.

Craig’s extensive sailing experience includes several Trans-Atlantic crossings on yachts, and in multihulls he started by sailing a Prescott 8.5 catamaran ‘Hot Vindaloo' around 15 years ago during a Multihull regatta at which point he became, 'completely hooked on the multis after that'. He immediately bought a Farrier trimaran and also became involved in the Nacra 5.8 scene for a while. Recently, he has been fortunate enough to have been invited to sail on a Raider 302 in local events.

Craig is a certificated IIMS Marine Surveyor, and is furthering these studies at present.

Multihull Central is pleased to have Craig as part of the Queensland team which includes another three sales representatives based in Brisbane, the Gold Coast and Airlie Beach. He will be a valuable resource to multihull owners in South East Queensland, with the ability to provide basic repair or extensive refits. Craig is available as a mobile service agent with his base at Boat Works in Coomera on the Gold Coast.
